Prohibited and restricted items

Last updated: 3 August 2026 Kyklaki started as a children's-only swap and has grown into a general marketplace — electronics, furniture, collectibles, tools, and more. Some things must never be passed on here, however good they look or however genuine the offer. This list is part of our Terms, and it applies to every category. NEVER ALLOWED • Weapons and ammunition. Firearms, ammunition, airsoft and other air-powered replica weapons, stun guns, tasers and pepper spray. We have no way to check a buyer's age or licence, so none of it moves through Kyklaki. • Knives and other close-combat weapons. Combat knives, switchblades, butterfly knives, brass knuckles and similar. Ordinary kitchen, craft and multi-tool knives are fine — it is weapons we are stopping, not cutlery. • Explosives and fireworks. Fireworks, firecrackers, gunpowder and any other explosive. These are a fire and injury risk that a handover at a meeting point cannot manage safely. • Medicines, supplements, vapes, tobacco and alcohol. Prescription medicines, dietary and vitamin supplements, vapes and e-cigarettes, tobacco, and alcoholic drinks. These are controlled by pharmacy, age and excise rules that a peer-to-peer swap cannot satisfy. • Drugs and drug paraphernalia. Any narcotic substance, and anything made or sold for using one. • Live animals. Kyklaki is a handover-at-a-meeting-point platform; we cannot guarantee an animal's welfare or safe transport, so no live animals, puppies, kittens or exotic pets. • Counterfeits and replicas sold as genuine. Anything advertised as a replica, "AAA quality", "1:1" or "high copy" of a branded item. Genuine collectible replicas — scale models, movie props, anything honestly described as a replica — are fine; it is counterfeits pretending to be the real thing we are stopping. • Government and ID documents. Passports, national ID cards, driving licences, birth certificates, or anything claiming to be one. These cannot legitimately change hands between private individuals. • Stolen goods. Anything offered with language like "no questions asked", "reported stolen", or with an IMEI that has been blocked or blacklisted. • Lockpicks and tools for defeating locks. Lock-picking sets, bump keys and similar tools, whose main use is getting through a lock without permission. • Surveillance and signal-jamming devices. Signal or GPS jammers, hidden spy cameras, and wiretapping devices. Operating these without authorisation is illegal in the EU. • Adult content and services. Sexually explicit content, and any offer of an escort or sexual service. • Lottery tickets, gift cards and vouchers. Kyklaki has no payment rails, so cash-equivalent instruments like these carry a fraud and money-laundering risk we are not set up to manage. • Human remains. Never, under any circumstance. • Protected wildlife and ivory. Ivory, rhino horn, tiger skin, or any part of a protected or endangered species. • Anything recalled, unsafe, or carrying a removed or altered safety label. Check the EU Safety Gate (the link is on every listing form) before you list anything secondhand — passing on a recalled product may also be a criminal offence. This also covers used car seats (a seat that has been in a crash can be damaged in ways nobody can see) and cot or crib mattresses (safe-sleep guidance means a used one can never be verified). • Broken, dirty or unhygienic items. ALLOWED, WITH CARE Most things belong here: electronics, furniture, collectibles, tools, baby and kids' gear, and more. An item must be genuinely yours to give away, complete, working (or honestly described if it isn't), and not subject to a recall. Say plainly what is worn, damaged or missing. HOW WE ENFORCE THIS Every listing is checked automatically before it can go live, and you must confirm at the point of listing that the item is safe, legal to pass on, and not recalled. Listings that fail the check never appear. Anyone can report a listing; three reports hide it pending review. Passing on a prohibited item leads to a strike, and three strikes suspend your account.
